February 21, 2010 - Pinecrest Premier’s U12G Grey team made a strong statement at the FLUGSA Championships this past weekend by finishing runner’s up in their division. Their semi-final match-up versus Cooper City ended 0-0 in regulation. After two overtime periods, the score remained 0-0. The girls experienced their first ever penalty shoot-out. The winner would earn a place in the Championship game.
Coach Akram left it up to the players to determine who would take the PKs. They made great choices and won the shoot out by a score of 4-3.
Sunday’s Championship game would pit Pinecrest against a tough Ft. Lauderdale Select squad. An incredibly hard fought match saw both teams were playing hard and fighting to try to score the game winner in a close match. The Pinecrest defense held off the undefeated Select squad, but with just under four minutes remaining in regulation, Ft. Lauderdale scored to take a 1-0 lead. The score would hold.
Congratulations to the Pinecrest Premier U12G Grey team having a great season and performing outstanding in the Championship!
